ProhibitedForbidden Content
- Spam, advertising, or excessive self-promotion
- Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks
- Hate speech or discriminatory content
- Sexually explicit or inappropriate material
- Malicious code or security exploits
- Personal information (doxxing) of yourself or others
- Plagiarized or copyright-infringing content
- Misinformation or deliberately false information
- Off-topic or irrelevant content
The following actions are strictly prohibited:
- Harassment: Targeting individuals with unwanted contact, comments, or attention
- Impersonation: Pretending to be another user, moderator, or administrator
- Vote manipulation: Using multiple accounts or coordinating to artificially inflate metrics
- Ban evasion: Creating new accounts to circumvent bans or suspensions
- Platform abuse: Exploiting bugs, vulnerabilities, or system limitations
- Unauthorized access: Attempting to access accounts, data, or systems without permission
- Coordinated attacks: Organizing brigading, mass reporting, or harassment campaigns
When engaging in comments and discussions:
- Stay on topic and relevant to the article or discussion
- Use the reply feature to maintain conversation threads
- Avoid derailing discussions or starting flame wars
- Don't spam comments with repetitive or off-topic messages
- Respect the author's time and effort
- Use code blocks for code snippets (not screenshots)
- Cite sources when referencing external information
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it immediately. We take all reports seriously and review them promptly.
How to Report:
- Use the report button on articles, comments, or user profiles
- Provide a clear explanation of the violation
- Include relevant context or evidence
- Don't abuse the reporting system
Our moderation team reviews all reported content and takes appropriate action based on the severity and context of violations.
Possible Actions:
- Warning: First-time minor violations receive a warning
- Content Removal: Violating content may be removed
- Temporary Suspension: Repeated or moderate violations result in temporary account suspension
- Permanent Ban: Severe or repeated violations result in permanent account termination
Decisions are made at the discretion of moderators and administrators. We consider context, history, and severity when taking action. Repeated violations will result in progressively stricter consequences.
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may appeal by:
- Contacting the moderation team through proper channels
- Providing clear reasoning for your appeal
- Being respectful and professional in your communication
Appeals are reviewed by senior moderators or administrators. Decisions on appeals are final.
These guidelines may be updated periodically to address new situations or improve clarity. Significant changes will be announced to the community. Continued use of DevConnect after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines.
